Norfolk has a wide variety of drug treatment agencies around the county. Most of these treatment services offer an open-access policy, which means that you can contact them directly and they will arrange an appointment with you. Some agencies offer a drop-in service where you can access a duty worker at set times without an appointment. If you need help, you can call the Matthew Project free helpline on 0800 764 754 to talk to someone in confidence 24 hours a day.Drug and Alcohol Information and Support ServicesThis guide provides details about the local organisations that can offer information, advice and support to anyone who is affected by drug and alcohol problems. Criminal Justice ServicesThe Matthew Project Custody and Case Management Service and the Norfolk and Suffolk Probation Trusts' Criminal Justice interventions Team are available to anyone aged 18 or over who has been arrested and whose illegal drug use is connected to their offending. Needle Exchange SchemeThis scheme exists to offer free sterile 'works' to those who inject drugs and to encourage the safe return and disposal of used needles and syringes.The outlets include pharmacies and drug agencies and this service is free and confidential. Residential Rehab InformationResidential rehabilitation - rehab for short - describes a drug and/or alcohol treatment programme that is provided in a residential setting. Rehabs are usually abstinence-based and provide an intense programme of support and care aimed at people who have difficulty becoming drug free in the community.
