Service User AreaWelcome to the Service User Area - letting you know what's going on and where. BackgroundAt a Service User Day held in March 2007 for the Partnership, facilitated by Jimi Grieve and Anna Millington from the National User Group, a training and development need was identified which led to the creation of a DAAT hosted Service User Engagement Training Sub Group in May 2007 . The overarching aim of the Service User Engagement Training Sub Group was to guide and support activity that helped to identify training and development needs among service users wishing to be involved in service user groups, advocacy or service development. In May 2010 from this training group a more strategic group was formed called Service Involvement Group Norfolk (SIGN). SIGN are now looking to build an independent service user network across Norfolk with a group in West Norfolk, East Norfolk, North Norfolk, South Norfolk and Norwich. To help kickstart this process SIGN have organised a number of SU Forums, with the inaugural Forum taking place on the 14th February 2011. SIGN and Local NetworksThe Service User Area also hosts the pages dedicated to the Service Involvement Group Norfolk (SIGN) and other local networks. These pages are still under development, so if you have any ideas or suggestions about the direction they should take, we'd like to hear from you. Please help me - I'm Addicted (2010)Please help me... I'm addicted was developed by Norfolk Children's Services and Community Music East and supported by the Norfolk Drug & Alcohol Action Team. Filmmakers from community Music East worked with service users over a period of six months to tell six true, and often moving stories about addiction. The film was made by a group of service users who felt very strongly that their stories and experience may benefit young people offered substances of any kind. Their interviews have been edited to create six individual short films that stand alone but also resonate together. Please Help Me...I'm Addicted came second in the category 'Films made by Service Users' in the Drink and Drugs Film Awards 2011. Watch the film on the N-DAP YouTube Channel. Thetford Service Users up for NTA AwardService Users in Thetfordcreated a puppet show to celebrate recovery and this has been nominated by The Matthew Project for an award by the NTA. The Matthew Project say ' Our service users produced an innovative and hard hitting puppet show telling the story of one young woman’s recovery from injecting drug use. The project began in February 2010 and ran for over 6 months , involving service users in every aspect of the production. It culminated in two performances of the 45 minute long play, the second of which was at our service’s Recovery Event, held in October 2010. A year after the first performance, it is clear that the project had a lasting and significant impact on the recovery of the service users involved and on the atmosphere of the whole service'.
