  • they can be eaten raw, dried, cooked in food, or stewed into a tea

  • similar effects to LSD, but the 'trip' is often shorter and milder
  • can make users feel very relaxed and 'spaced-out'
  • effects vary, and depend on the user's mood, where they are and who they are with
  • may cause hallucinations - objects, colour and sound become distorted
  • can cause stomach pains, sickness and diarrhoea
  • can complicate any existing mental health problems
  • bad 'trips' can happen and can be very frightening
  • eating the wrong kind of mushroom can cause serious illness and even death (by poisoning)
