  • Rolled into cigarettes or cigars which are lit and the smoke inhaled
  • Placed into a pipe, lit and smoke inhaled

  • Tobacco contains nicotine which is a stimulant
  • Increased blood pressure and heart rate
  • Cigarette smoking is strongly linked with physical dependence
  • Can cause sickness and dizziness in first time smokers
  • Regular smokers report relaxation and reduction in anxiety
  • Long term smoking increases risk of serious diseases including lung cancer and heart disease
  • Smoking whilst pregnant can increase the risk of babies with a small birth weight
