DANOS - Drug and Alcohol National Standards

Welcome to the Norfolk DAAT Danos Software Page.

The National Treatment Agency for Substance Misuse (NTA) require all substance misuse workers to match their current job description to the DANOS standards.

This tool developed by the Norfolk Drug and Alcohol Action team and Eastern Support services, will help you to develop a set of National Occupational Standards relevant to your particular job role, your own role profile.

By using the software you will be ale to identify the units of the Drug and Alcohol National Occupational Standards that apply to your role or if you work as a Manager or in HR the roles of others in your organisation.

When using this tool we suggest that you have your job description in front of you and you think about those tasks that you are currently required to do. It may help to think of the tasks that you most commonly do.

The software can also be used as a career development tool to help you identify all your present competencies and to match these against future career goals.

DANOS 2007 Update:

The Drugs and Alcohol National Occupational Standards (DANOS) framework has been reviewed as part of the database rationalisation process and in consultation with a DANOS rationalisation group. This has resulted in the following:

  1. Some competences remain unchanged in both content and code labeling

  2. Some of the competences that were imported to the initial framework remain unchanged in content but the code label has reverted to it's origin e.g. HSC (Health & Social Care)
  3. Some of the competences that were imported to the initial framework have been updated by the originating sector. The updated competences have therefore been included and given their original code label e.g. M&L (Management and Leadership).

  4. Some of the original DANOS competences have been made more generic and have consequently been given a GEN code label

For a more detailed description of the changes, or once you have completed a DANOS role profile using the tool, please click here

Please click here to enter the DAAT DANOS software page.

Once you have worked through the questions on the site, you will then have the opportunity to save the profile you have created, by registering with a username and password,(please note this a separate password from the DAAT private access if you have one). This allows you to go back to your profile and amend it at a later stage if you want to.
After you have registered you will also have the option of emailing your profile to your line manager.

If you have any questions with using the software, please contact the DAAT offices.

The DANOS (Drug and Alcohol National Occupational Standards) software has been developed by the DAAT and is available on the website to assist with the ongoing development of the substance misuse workforce across Norfolk.
